The bill would force internet companies to build systems allowing easier government access to private data, including forcing them to store Canadians’ location and metadata for up to a year.
Critics say these measures seriously threaten privacy rights and could even require companies to create backdoors in encrypted communications. This is a major power grab hidden inside “lawful access” legislation.
